In 1939 at a summer resort, Jerry Robinson stood on a tennis court with a cartoon-covered jacket. That jacket caught the eye of a comics professional who offered him a job on the spot. That professional was Bob Kane, co-creator of Batman. The serendipitous meeting led to a renowned career in comics. As a member of the original Batman team, Robinson created the comics’ first supervillian, the Joker. He also co-created Robin, the archetypical sidekick, giving him his name and designing his costume. That professional was Bob Kane, the co-creator of Batman. During the Golden and Silver Age of comics, Robinson worked on every comic book genre there was, even teaming with other Golden Age greats Mort Meskin, Bill Finger and Stan Lee.
